On Monday 2 December, the Camp Quality Puppets visited Merrylands Public School to deliver a Cancer Education Program show. We had the honour of being joined by Federal Minister of Education, the Hon. Jason Clare MP.
In the weeks leading up to the puppet show, Merrylands Public School had a fundraising mufti day to support Camp Quality, raising over $600 in gold coin donations.
Camp Quality puppeteers perform at Merrylands Public School, sharing the Cancer Education Program.
Our talented puppeteers performed for about 300 students, aged 5-12, to help them better understand cancer and show them how to support a family member, relative, or friend through treatment and recovery. The kids all had a great time watching the show, with one coming up to the Camp Quality staff at the end to let them know how much they enjoyed it.
The Cancer Education Program helps reduce bullying, absenteeism and the need for mental health support in children facing cancer. In 2024 the show was seen by over 85,000 students across Australia.
After the performance, Camp Quality staff spoke with families about the services and programs that we offer and shared our new multilingual brochures. These brochures have been translated into 6 languages: Hindi, Chinese (Traditional), Chinese (Simplified), Arabic, Vietnamese and Daari. These translated brochures are part of a continued push to ensure that all families facing a cancer diagnosis can access the help available to them.
